Livestock Medicines for the Meat and Milk Industries

In this one-day course, participants will learn about the proper handling, storage, and use of livestock medicines. Course materials will coincide with on-farm food safety programs and will lead to improved consumer confidence.

Who Should Attend?
Any producer who administers medicine to livestock in either a meat or milk production scenario.

What you Will Learn
Up-to-date information and interactive learning to enable you to:

  • Read, understand and follow labels
  • Enhance record keeping for On-Farm Food Safety Programs (ie. Quality Milk Program)
  • Demonstrate the safe and judicious use of medicines which also reduce waste
  • Recognize how your herd or flock can benefit from early diagnosis

Instructor
Dr. Ted Semple D.V.M. is a consulting lecturer at NSAC in the topic areas of Animal Health and Mammalian Physiology.  He is also well known in the NS Animal Agriculture industry as the owner/ operator of Semple Veterinary Services and Maritime Genetics.  Through his businesses, Dr. Semple provides ruminant animal care and embryo transfer service.  He prepares and delivers Livestock Medicines training and Artificial Insemination training for a variety of industry clients.
